2004

This past weekend some of the employees of Mastronardi Produce participated in the MS Superwalk. Our team name of course was Mastronardi Produce. The weather was excellent! The walk started out at the Leamington Kinsmen Recreational Complex, from there everyone had a choice of walking 5km or 10km. The entire team managed the 5 km walk. Then there was our stand out athletes that completed the full 10 km. Maria, Sayde, Yvonne, Esther and Lisa deserve a big applause for completing the full 10km. Hats go off to Barb who raised $2500.00, Maria raised $945.00, Tracy raised $730.00, Cathy O. raised $865.00, Linda raised $545.00. With the calculations that I have at the moment I estimate that we raised a whooping $8600.00. Our team was the largest team in the Leamington MS Walk. Participants in the walk have 4 weeks to turn in pledges, so at that time we will be able to have final totals. At the present moment Barb holds the rank of top fund raiser in the Leamington walk. WAY TO GO BARB! Nicole from MS Society mentioned to me on Sunday that they had hopes of raising $20,000 in Leamington, to their surprise we were already at $34,000. Our team represented Mastronardi produce with great enthusiasm. Thank you to all who participated, everyone did an amazing job with both raising funds and walking. Also a thank you goes out to Mastronardi Produce for supplying our team with t-shirts and all those who made pledges enabling us to do a great job.

2003

This past weekend some of the employees and friends of Mastronardi Produce participated in a hockey tournament at the Windsor Ice Park. The team was very successful going undefeated winning 4 games and winning the championship.

In their first game they won 8-0, the second game was much of the same seeing the boys win easily 8-3 vaulting the team into the semi-final. The semi-final produced some high anxiety as the game finished 4-4 and the boys winning in a shoot-out 7-5, taking the team into the championship game.

Hats go off to all the people who found the time to come out and cheer the boys on. It was a lot of fun. Mastronardi Produce was represented very respectfully through out the tournament; the players did a great job. Thanks go out to Paul and Jason for supplying the team with refreshments after the games and also Mastronardi Produce for picking up the tab for the registration and the jerseys.

The championship was a hard fought battle as the Mastronardi team fell behind quickly 2-0, but the boys wouldn’t give up quickly coming back to tie the game at 2-2. The rest of the game would be tight with both teams exchanging goals to make it 3-3. The Mastronardi team continued to press as our goalie Scott kept us in the game. Then finally with about three minutes remaining Maurino tipped in a shot from the corner between the goalies legs. Mike Dibbley would take a penalty in the final 2 minutes to make it interesting but the boys held on to claim the championship.
